Hey everyone! 👋

Releasing an update during the holiday season feels like the perfect excuse to ship something a bit special. v1.5 is all about giving you more control over how you split expenses and making Deplan feel a bit more like your own app, not just a generic tool.

New paid modes: amount, percentages & parts

Splitting a bill is rarely one-size-fits-all, so Deplan now supports three new paid modes: amountpercentages, and parts.

  • Use amount when you already know exactly how much each person should pay; the same way you've done until today.
  • Use percentages when you're splitting based on custom shares, like couples, family, or uneven budgets.
  • Use parts when you just want “2 shares for me, 1 share for you” and let Deplan handle the math.

All three modes are designed to keep things flexible without making the interface more complicated than it needs to be.

🍊 Themes for Capy Camp members

Capy Camp finally gets its first visual perk: themes.

If you’re a Capy Camp member, you can now change how Deplan looks and give your groups a bit more personality. This is just the start: themes are the first of several visual and quality-of-life upgrades planned for Capy Camp, building on top of the ad-free experience introduced in v1.4.

Smarter notifications

Notifications are now a bit more respectful of your attention.

You can choose to only get notified for expenses you participate in, instead of every single thing that happens in a busy group. This should keep your phone a little quieter while still letting you know when something actually involves you.

Faster expense & balance workflows

A few small changes should make everyday use a bit smoother:

  • Tapping the balance bar now drafts a new expense directly, making it easier to add something when you’re already thinking about who owes what.
  • When selecting members, you’ll now see the selected member count in the header, so you always know how many people are included without double-checking the list.
  • For groups with multiple currencies, Deplan now shows the converted amount in the base currency on each member, making the split easier to understand at a glance.

Settling up made simpler

Settling suggestions got a quality-of-life pass.

  • Suggestions are now simpler, with fewer transactions needed to settle a group.
  • They should also finally be consistent for everyone, so all members see the same plan instead of slightly different versions of “who pays who”.

Platform-specific tweaks

A couple of small but handy platform-specific changes also landed in v1.5:

  • Android: deleting an expense now shows a message with an undo option, so accidental deletes are much less painful.
  • iOS: the amount field hitbox has been increased to reduce accidental unselects, especially handy when writing down custom amounts.
